Flying V's lose in finals in OT

DC Street Hockey's women's team, the Flying V's, finished 2nd in the Holiday Bash in Aston, PA. The team played great all weekend with strong wins over MPS and Sparks in the preliminary round. In the playoff round the FV's beat the Bruisers 2-1 to kind of avenge a loss in this past summer's Beach Bash in Ocean City, MD in the finals there. In the finals the FV's outplayed MPS for most of the game but couldn't get the ball past team USA's starting goalie Allesandra Ciambra and the game went to OT tied 0-0. The FV's lost a heart breaker in the finals 1-0 on a fluke goal that gave MPS a 4th straight Holiday Bash Championship. The loss was tough to take as the team played well and outplayed MPS even with a substitute goalie for starter Adele King who was out with a concussion for the playoff round. Congrats to Liz Petry for being voted MVD of the tournament and the team for another strong showing which may have the team ranked #2 in the women's power rankings. The team will be looking for a few new players for the North American Championships the last weekend in March in Feasterville, PA so please let myself or Steph Holland know if you are interested in playing.
